We are currently looking for an experienced Multi Skilled Operative to join our Whitwell Quarry near Worksop, Nottinghamshire. This role is easily commutable from Sheffield, Chesterfield, Rotherham, Worksop, Bolsover, Dronfield, North Anston, Retford, Doncaster and Mansfield.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Shift Managers the duties of the Multi Skilled Operative are part of a key team of Operatives producing dry aggregates material for the construction industry. As well as delivering best in class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance for our Plant operations.

Your role as a Multi Skilled Operative will include:

  • Operation of computer based fixed crushing and screening plant
  • Inputting data into app-based systems
  • Supporting weighbridge operations
  • Mobile plant operations including loading shovel, dumpers, tractor and bowser
  • Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material
  • Assisting the Shift Managers with meeting daily/weekly production targets
  • Ensuring Plant always conforms with safety requirements and following Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures and responsibilities
  • Helping site to achieve Key performance indicators
  • Complete fixed and mobile plant inspections
  • Ensuring that Plant availability is maximised
  • Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard

Please note this is a DAY shift role working 48 hours week Monday – Friday. Overtime is available to meet with the site production needs when required.

Hours: Mon – Thurs: 05:30 - 15:30 and Fri: 05:30 - 13:30

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Operative will be willing to learn the sites operations in line with current company and legislative policies as demonstrate good communication skills and a real desire in develop both operative and supervisory skills.

Suitable candidates for the role of a Multi Skilled Operative will have:

  • Knowledge of Quarrying and plant operations (preferred)
  • Previous experience in mobile plant operations i.e loading shovel would prove highly beneficial
  • Be flexible and able to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operative team
  • Be self motivated and able to motivate other colleagues in the team
  • Good timekeeping – reliable and flexible as to the sites manufacturing requirements
  • Good Communication skills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • IT Literate

Previous experience as a Multi Skilled Operative working in a Quarry environment would prove highly beneficial however this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.
