Through structured rotational placements, you’ll develop a well‑rounded understanding of finance while working towards your AAT Level 4 qualification. You’ll be supported every step of the way as you grow into a confident and capable Assistant Accountant.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support core finance activities and processes
  • Record, analyse, and report financial data
  • Use financial systems and tools to process transactions and perform reconciliations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the business
  • Prepare financial information for internal stakeholders
  • Apply accounting principles to support financial and management reporting
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Development:

You’ll work towards achieving your AAT Level 4 qualification provided by HTFT, giving you a strong technical foundation and a recognised credential in finance. You will be granted day release to attend your online college sessions. You’ll also take part in our Core Skills Development Programme, designed to boost your business knowledge, strengthen your soft skills, and connect you with other apprentices and leaders across Tarmac.

Entry Requirements:

  • Applicants must hold a minimum of five GCSEs at grades A–C (or the numbered equivalent 9–4), including Mathematics and English.
  • Minimum of 2 A Levels (A*–C) or equivalent qualifications (predicted or obtained).
  • Strong with numbers and analytical thinking.
  • A confident communicator and team player.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Passionate about building a career in finance.

What we’re looking for:

  • GCSEs in English Language and Maths (or equivalent) at Grade 4 or above.
