About the role
We are currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Project Cutover Lead to join our Transformation team (Hybrid/On-site as required during cutover periods) on a 12 month Fixed term Contract basis. The role provides project management delivery to create a coordinated cutover plan across the various areas of the programme, covering Data, Technical and Business streams. It is responsible for the end-to-end management of the cutover plan, ensuring seamless transition from project delivery to business-as-usual operations.
Main responsibilities
- Establish an overall approach and project plans to ensure the 3 major streams of work (Data, Technical, Business) can be delivered in the desired cutover window
- Define and obtain agreement on the principles for cutover
- Oversee/Create the Data, Technical and Business plans for cutover
- Develop comprehensive cutover runbooks, checklists and decision logs
- Map dependencies across all workstreams and identify critical path activities
- Establish a cutover governance framework including decision-making authority and escalation paths
- Identify, track and mitigate cutover risks; maintain RAID log
- Provide command and control around the entry into cutover and cutover trials including exit criteria
- Develop and maintain rollback procedures and contingency plans
- Provide evidence-based Go/No-Go recommendations for cutover readiness
- Work with the BAU environment and release manager to ensure environments are available for the cutover trials
- Validate readiness criteria are met before proceeding to live cutover
- Provide regular communication with senior stakeholders, business owners, and technical leads
- Ensure the appropriate resources are allocated and available during cutover windows
- Coordinate with business continuity teams to minimise operational disruption
- Facilitate cutover readiness meetings and decision-making forums
Experience & qualifications
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- Proven experience leading complex IT/business transformation cutovers (minimum 3-5 years)
- A demonstrable project management background with relevant certifications (Prince2, PMP, Agile, or equivalent)
- Experience with cutover planning tools (e.g., Cutover.com, ServiceNow, MS Project, Smartsheet)
- Excellent stakeholder management skills at all levels
- Demonstrable command and control capabilities under pressure
- Experience running cutover rehearsals/trials and incorporating lessons learned
- An understanding of data migration, technical infrastructure, and business change
- Risk and issue management expertise with a proven track record of mitigation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and disciplines
- ITIL Foundation or similar service management qualification (desirable)
- Experience in construction, building materials, or related industries (desirable)
- Knowledge of SAP/ERP implementations and cutovers
- Change management certification (e.g., Prosci, CMI) (desirable)
- Experience with Agile/DevOps methodologies
- Previous experience in 24/7 operational environments
- An understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in UK business operations
- Experience with cloud migration and infrastructure cutovers
