Join Tarmac as a Transport Planner and play a vital role in keeping our customers supplied with aggregates and asphalt safely, efficiently and on time. No previous logistics experience is required – we'll provide all the training and development you need to build a successful career in logistics.

At Tarmac, you'll work as part of a collaborative team, using industry-leading route optimisation technology to plan deliveries, support customers and help keep our operations moving. Following successful completion of your probation, you'll join the Tarmac Logistics Academy and be enrolled on a Level 2 Traffic Office Apprenticeship, providing excellent opportunities for long-term career development.

The Role

As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for supporting the safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery of aggregates and asphalt to our customers. Working closely with Transport Planners, Customer Service Coordinators, operational teams and commercial colleagues, you'll help ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, allocate and schedule deliveries using Tarmac's route optimisation technology
  • Work closely with Transport Planners and Customer Service Coordinators to support smooth daily operations
  • Provide proactive updates to customers regarding delivery status, delays and changes
  • Collaborate with operational and commercial teams to maximise plant and vehicle utilisation
  • Update planning systems accurately to maintain real-time delivery visibility
  • Prioritise safety in all planning activities and follow Tarmac operational standards
  • Respond quickly to changing operational demands by adjusting schedules and re-routing deliveries where required
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying ways to enhance efficiency and customer experience
