The Role
Reporting to the Operations Manager and Senior Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role within the maintenance team. You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault finding, and reactive maintenance across all areas of the asphalt plant, including rail discharge systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensuring full compliance with all relevant statutory legislation and company Safety, Health and Environmental standards
- Conducting plant safety and maintenance inspections, and developing safe systems of work (including method statements, risk assessments, and dynamic risk assessments)
- Performing electrical fault finding, maintenance, and repair work to support operational performance targets
- Recording maintenance activities and work requests within Tarmac’s maintenance system
- Assisting with the commissioning of new plant and equipment
- Participating in regional and local maintenance meetings to support continuous improvement
- Liaising with site management to coordinate required repairs and maintenance activities
Candidate Requirements
- An HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
- A proactive and positive approach to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, ideally within a heavy industrial environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience within an asphalt or similar industry would be advantageous, but is not essential
Additional Information
Please note that this role supports plant operations running 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As such, flexibility is required, including participation in an on-call rota, as well as occasional night, weekend, and bank holiday working. You may also be required to work across multiple asphalt plants within the region. A company van will be provided to support travel requirements.
