We are currently recruiting for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our amazing team at our Tarmac Halecombe Quarry and Asphalt Plant, Frome, Somerset. As well as Frome, this role is easily accessible from Nunney, Shepton Mallet, Warminster, Trowbridge, Bath, Midsomer Norton, Gillingham, Glastonbury and surrounding areas.
Main Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the Section Manager, the duties of the Multi Skilled Operative are part of a key team of Operatives producing dry aggregates material for the construction industry, as well as delivering best-in-class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance for our Plant operations.
- Your role as a Multi Skilled Operative will include:
- Working with other members of the team to ensure that customers get good quality material and on-time deliveries
- Operation of mobile Plant
- Assisting the Supervisor with meeting daily/weekly production targets
- Ensuring Plant conforms with safety requirements at all times
- Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities
- Following Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures
- Carrying out inspections on the Plant, acting on defects and implementing remedial action
- Assisting in the maintenance regime of the Plant
- Ensuring that Plant availability is maximised
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping around the site
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as an operative or labourer, along with good communication skills and a real desire to develop both operative and supervisory skills.
To succeed in this role we would expect a candidate to evidence:
- Knowledge of Plant and ideally previous experience in quarry or mobile Plant operations
- Shovel licence – desirable
- Flexibility and the ability to work as part of an effective Multi-Skilled Operative team
- Self-motivation and the ability to motivate colleagues
- Good timekeeping, with flexibility to meet unit requirements
- Good communication skills, raising issues with Line Management where needed
- Full UK driving licence
- IT literacy
Previous experience as a Multi Skilled Operative working in an Asphalt Plant would be highly beneficial; however, this is not essential as full training will be provided for the right candidate.
