This role sits within our UK Wastewater Services (UKWWS) team, supporting major water utility companies on wastewater and sewage treatment sites across the UK.

We’re looking for a skilled, reliable and safety‑focused Class 2 HI‑AB Driver to join our Dumfries‑based team. This is a hands‑on, varied role combining Class 2 driving, HI‑AB crane operation and on‑site support for mechanical and electrical works on wastewater treatment sites. You’ll be actively involved in lifting, installing and removing machinery, working closely with engineers and site teams. The role involves regular working away, typically Monday to Friday, with overnight stays in your vehicle. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Driving Class 2 vehicles and operating HI‑AB cranes on sewage treatment sites
  • Leading lifting operations and ensuring loads are safely secured
  • Lifting, removing and installing machinery and equipment
  • Supporting mechanical and electrical engineering activities on site
  • Carrying out daily and weekly vehicle and crane checks and maintenance
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions (full PPE provided)
  • Staying away overnight during the working week
  • Occasional Saturday morning work for vehicle cleaning, checks and loading

What You’ll Need

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence (ideally no more than 6 penalty points)
  • Class 2 / HGV licence
  • Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
  • HI‑AB / Crane Operator licence
  • Willingness to work on wastewater and sewage treatment sites
  • Ability to work at height and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Flexibility to stay away overnight on a regular basis (Monday–Friday)
  • Physical capability for manual work including lifting, kneeling and crouching
  • Willingness to complete confined space training and work as part of a confined space team
  • Pride in keeping your vehicle and equipment clean, safe and well‑maintained

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Confined Space certification (City & Guilds preferred)
  • Slinger or Crane Supervisor qualification
  • Mechanical engineering or industrial mechanical fitting background
  • Knowledge of LOLER 1998 and BS7121 (safe use of cranes)
  • Awareness of lifting regulations and best practice
