We’re looking for a hands-on, commercially aware leader to take charge of our Stowfield Quarry and Asphalt Plant in Coleford (Forest of Dean). You’ll have the autonomy to shape site performance and develop your team as well as the opportunity to make a tangible impact on safety, production and continuous improvement.
What you’ll be doing
- Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll take full responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient running of the quarry and asphalt plant, with a strong focus on people, performance and profitability.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team, building capability and resilience.
- Ensure industry leading health, safety and environmental standards.
- Manage all aspects of site operations, production and maintenance.
- Control budgets and drive cost efficiency and performance improvements.
- Oversee compliance with legislation, company policies and best practice.
- Deliver against operational KPIs, reporting performance and driving results.
- Implement and maintain safe systems of work, SOPs and training plans.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, waste reduction and optimisation.
- Champion a “one team” culture, aligning everyone behind shared goals.
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in a Quarry / Site / Unit Manager role.
- Diploma in Quarry Technology / FdSc Extractives Technology (or similar).
- Eligibility for Regulation 8.1(c) under Quarry Regulations 1999.
- Strong knowledge of mineral extraction, processing and production techniques.
- Experience managing budgets, people and operational performance.
- The ability to lead change, make decisions and deliver results.
- Solid understanding of Health and Safety, environmental and compliance standards.
- SHE NVQ Level 4 / QCF Level 6 (essential).
- IOSH / NEBOSH (desirable).
- Strong IT skills (SAP preferred, plus Microsoft Office).
Easily commutable from Monmouth, Cinderford, Lydney, Chepstow, Newport, Abergavenny, Cwmbran, Hereford, Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Stroud, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Bristol and Bath.
