Lead the performance and maintenance of Tarmac's marine fleet. Are you an experienced engineering professional looking for a unique opportunity to combine technical leadership, project management and people management in a maritime environment? At Tarmac, we're looking for a Ship Manager – Technical Superintendent to join our Marine Management Team. You'll play a critical role in ensuring our vessels operate safely, efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements, whilst leading maintenance projects and supporting our marine crews. Whether your experience comes from commercial marine, heavy engineering, defence or the Armed Forces, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing:
- Reporting to the Marine Fleet Manager, you will work closely with Masters, Chief Engineers and shore-based stakeholders to support the safe and efficient operation of Tarmac's marine vessel assigned to you.
- Managing vessel maintenance, repairs and dry-docking programmes.
- Preparing technical specifications and overseeing contractors.
- Supporting vessel availability and minimising downtime.
- Managing budgets, spares and engineering projects.
- Ensuring compliance with MCA and Classification Society requirements.
- Leading health, safety and operational improvements.
- Supporting the development, training and recruitment of marine personnel.
What we're looking for:
- Engineers Unlimited Certificate of Competency, military equivalent, or significant relevant marine engineering management experience.
- Project management experience.
- Strong health and safety knowledge (NEBOSH, IOSH or similar).
- Effective leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and IT skills.
Desirable experience:
- TSHD vessels.
- Dry-docking and major maintenance projects.
- Heavy engineering or repair environments.
- Ability to work onboard vessels and travel when required.
