We’re recruiting a Plant Supervisor (Readymix) to lead operations at our Chesterton Concrete Plant in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Readymix plant, ensuring safety, quality, customer service and operational performance remain at the highest level. This is a highly visible role where you will lead from the front, manage plant performance, support your team and help deliver a first-class service to customers.
While experience within the Readymix or aggregates sector would be beneficial, we are equally keen to hear from candidates with supervisory experience gained in other heavy industrial, manufacturing or production environments. Full product and industry training will be provided.
What You'll Be Doing
- As Plant Supervisor you will lead and supervise all daily Readymix plant operations whilst building positive relationships with customers, contractors and colleagues.
- Managing daily production activities, stock control and operational costs.
- Ensuring efficient concrete production while maintaining quality standards.
- Creating and maintaining a strong safety culture across site.
- Managing site compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
- Delivering toolbox talks and supervising contractors.
- Monitoring and improving plant performance through KPIs.
- Resolving operational and customer-related queries.
- Maintaining excellent housekeeping and site standards.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
- Managing site budgets, including both fixed and variable costs.
What We're Looking For
- Ideally you will be an effective Supervisor with experience gained within a manufacturing, production or heavy industrial environment who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and enjoys balancing people leadership, production, customer service and continuous improvement.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
- Experience working with risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Good operational and production process knowledge.
- Strong people leadership and communication skills with proven ability to motivate teams and drive performance.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Confidence to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A customer-focused mindset.
- Experience within Readymix, aggregates, concrete or related industries (preferred).
- IOSH Managing Safely (advantageous).
- NVQ in Fixed and Mobile Plant Operations (advantageous).
Working Hours: Day shifts with overtime available to support production requirements.
Location: Tarmac Chesterton Concrete Plant is conveniently located for candidates living in Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Kidsgrove, Biddulph, Stone, Alsager, Leek, Nantwich, Congleton, Cheadle and surrounding areas.
