Purpose of the Role
Responsible for supervising the daily activities of an RMX production plant. The role ensures safe site operations, cost control, people supervision, delivery of high-quality concrete, customer satisfaction, and continuous performance improvement.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership
Actively supervise all personnel working on site, including Operatives, visiting Technicians, Maintenance teams, HGV drivers, delivery drivers and subcontractors. Lead daily production activities, including operational controls and stock control. Ensure efficient manufacture of concrete, managing standard deviation and cement content. Deliver operational performance in line with KPIs. Effectively coach, monitor and manage performance, ensuring accurate and timely reporting. - Safety & Compliance
Take full responsibility for personal safety and the safety of colleagues. Deliver toolbox talks to reinforce safety standards. Maintain housekeeping to a high standard across the whole site. Ensure concrete meets internal and external quality requirements. Support the completion and implementation of risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work. - Customer & Production Performance
Produce concrete that meets customer needs while maintaining quality compliance. Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally. Identify opportunities to improve customer service and feed insights to sales teams. Work collaboratively with sales and operations to support customer delivery requirements. - Cost Management
Manage fixed and variable costs associated with the plant. Maintain responsibility for the plant budget and support cost reduction initiatives.
Knowledge & Skills
- Qualifications
IOSH Managing Safety NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations (or willingness to work towards) - Experience
Experience in plant operations. Previous experience within a Readymix or Aggregates environment. Strong understanding of risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work. Working knowledge of production processes. Understanding of 4RAs and environmental obligations. - Skills
Ability to implement site and process improvements. Ability to identify customer needs and improvement opportunities. Strong communication skills to support customer service and collaboration with sales. Ability to multitask and effectively manage change. - Behaviours
