We are currently looking for Production Inspection Operative (Shift Patroller) to join our friendly team based in our Tunstead Quarry based in Buxton, Derbyshire. The role is easily commutable from Buxton, Macclesfield, Stockport, Dronfield, Manchester, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Leek, Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding areas.

Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Shift Supervisor the role of Production Inspection Operative (Shift Patroller) will be responsible for patrolling the Stone processing plants and associated equipment to monitor performance and identify any issues that could have an impact on availability whilst supporting the Lead Operators to meet shift KPI targets. This role is carried out primarily on foot and so you are the eyes and ears of production.
As Production Inspection Operative (Shift Patroller) you will also be responsible for:
- Complying with and actively involved in Tarmac SHE procedures, working in a safe manner ensuring zero injuries / incidents involving you or team members
- Supporting the operation of processing plants and reacting to any performance or availability issues as advised by the Shift Supervisor
- Carrying out scheduled plant inspections and reporting detail to required standard
- Carrying out diagnostic / proactive inspections and assisting in mechanical repairs to minimise any subsequent downtime and optimise plant and equipment
- Completing shift reports detailing activities completed and problems encountered with plant or equipment
- Maintaining efficient operation and accuracy of processing plant conveyor belts including scrapers and tracking
- Assisting with planned Mechanical maintenance activities in line with daily schedules
The role of Production Inspection Operative (Shift Patroller) is a shift role so you will be required to work a set shift pattern of 4 on / 4 off (this will be 2 Days, 2 nights and 4 off) with overtime available to meet with the site needs.
The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate for the role of Production Inspection Operative (Shift Patroller) will demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as an operative or labourer. You will also possess good communication skills and have a real desire to develop both operative and supervisory skills.
Suitable candidates for the role of Production Inspection Operative (Shift Patroller) will also have:
- Good knowledge of crushing, screening and washing processes
- Ability to operate all mobile plant and Roadstone plant effectively and efficiently
- Capability and flexibility to cover other roles within the Stone Section Process team
- Strong IT skills
- Fault finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action
- Good practical knowledge and experience of maintenance systems
- Working knowledge of plant and machinery
- Basic report writing skills
