Are you an experienced Maintenance Fitter looking for your next permanent role? We are currently looking for a HS2 Maintenance Fitter to join our friendly team based at our Great Worth plant. This role involves work on plants supporting a large infrastructure project and covers seven production sites across the Midlands and North Oxfordshire. The base site is easily accessible via major road networks, located in the heart of the Midlands and commutable from Birmingham, Coventry, Kenilworth, Nuneaton, Redditch, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Cannock, Tamworth, Towcester, Stratford‑on‑Avon, Royal Leamington Spa, Daventry, Northampton, Rugby and surrounding areas.

The role is a DAYS role, requiring Monday to Friday work; overtime is available to meet site needs. A company vehicle is provided for this role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, as your HS2 Maintenance Fitter you will be responsible for undertaking plant maintenance, repairs and improvements to ensure maximum reliability of all plant‑associated areas and to assist team members in all aspects of plant operations.
  • Respond to plant breakdowns and be responsible for correct and efficient repair of equipment, keeping downtime to a minimum with timely and safe adherence to the maintenance plan while complying with all relevant statutory legislation and the internal company Safety, Health and Environmental standards.
  • Continue to improve plant performance whilst maintaining safety, maintenance and asset reliability.
  • Contribute to the in‑house development of the Computer Maintenance Management System.
  • Utilise documents and maintain policies, procedures and associated guidelines for the safe and efficient maintenance of equipment.

The Ideal Candidate

The role of HS2 Maintenance Fitter is varied, complex and rewarding. It requires:

  • Level 3 Apprentice training or ONC/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering (highly beneficial but not essential), with QBE (Qualified by Experience) essential for this role.
  • Experience working in the Ready‑Mix Concrete industry a distinct advantage.
  • Experience with TPM methodology and Continuous Improvement.
  • Working knowledge of relevant engineering maintenance principles and practices, and experience in a relevant heavy‑engineering industry.
  • Knowledge of Predictive Maintenance.
  • Experience using a Computer Maintenance Management System.
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Failure Mode & Effect Analysis tools/techniques.
  • Understanding of database systems as relevant to planned maintenance and logging of shift activities.
  • Understanding of mechanical systems including hydraulics and pneumatics, and national and international codes and symbols used on drawings and specifications.
