We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our night‑shift engineering team within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. The role focuses on maintaining plant reliability through rapid breakdown response, planned preventative maintenance, and effective fault‑finding across mechanical and electrical systems. You will play a key part in ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous production during night operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to plant breakdowns, carrying out effective fault‑finding and repairs to minimise downtime.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with the maintenance schedule.
- Carry out routine inspections, condition monitoring, and safety checks across production equipment.
- Execute shutdown maintenance activities, including strip‑downs, overhauls, and project‑based tasks.
- Accurately complete digital work orders, job updates, and asset history using tablet‑based CMMS systems.
- Diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues and recommending engineering solutions.
- Work safely at all times, adhering to site procedures, risk assessments, and permit‑to‑work systems.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure equipment performance and operational stability during night shift.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Proven experience as a multi‑skilled engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong fault‑finding capability across electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Experience working with automated machinery, conveyors, mixers, pumps, motors, and PLC‑controlled equipment (advantageous).
- Ability to work independently during night shift with strong decision‑making skills.
- Competent in using digital maintenance systems, tablets, and CMMS platforms.
- Strong awareness of health & safety, safe isolation, and industrial maintenance best practice.
