We're looking for a skilled and highly credible National Security Manager to play a critical role in protecting our people, assets and operations across the UK. This is a unique opportunity to lead proactive security, investigations and risk mitigation across a complex, nationally dispersed business. Working closely with senior leaders and operational teams, you'll bring independence, integrity and strong investigative capability to help prevent fraud, theft, misconduct and security breaches - ensuring our organisation continues to operate safely, ethically and securely.

As National Security Manager, you'll take ownership of security strategy and delivery across our UK operations. You'll ensure robust systems, processes and controls are in place to proactively identify risk, reduce loss and protect organisational integrity. This role combines proactive security assessments with reactive investigations and discreet surveillance activity. You'll act as a trusted partner to leadership, HR, Legal and external agencies, providing clear, evidence based insight and recommendations in sensitive and high impact situations.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead proactive security and risk assessments across manufacturing, distribution and quarry sites, identifying vulnerabilities in physical security, systems and processes.
  • Design and implement security improvements, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure recommendations are prioritised, actioned and sustained.
  • Conduct covert surveillance operations (static, mobile and vehicle based) where required, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation and ethical standards.
  • Lead independent investigations into theft, fraud, collusion, illegal activity and misconduct, including whistleblowing and hotline cases.
  • Preserve and manage evidence, including CCTV, documentation and digital material, maintaining evidential integrity throughout.
  • Produce clear, structured investigation reports, setting out findings, root cause analysis and recommended corrective actions.
  • Present findings confidently to senior stakeholders and support HR disciplinary processes where appropriate.
  • Liaise with police and external enforcement agencies when criminal activity is suspected.
  • Oversee public risk assessments, ensuring consistent, effective and proportionate approaches across the organisation.

This role involves significant national travel and occasional unsocial hours linked to surveillance or reactive deployments.

Key Competencies You'll bring:

  • Strong investigative and analytical capability with a structured, methodical approach.
  • Covert surveillance expertise across multiple environments.
  • High levels of integrity, discretion and emotional intelligence.
  • The ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent interviewing and communication skills (PEACE model desirable).
  • Resilience and sound judgement under pressure.
  • Flexibility to travel extensively and work beyond standard hours when required.

The Ideal Candidate You'll be a self-starting, credible security professional who is comfortable operating independently while building strong relationships across the business. You'll be confident engaging with senior stakeholders, yet equally effective working at operational site level. You'll combine a strong moral compass with commercial awareness, balancing risk mitigation with practical, proportionate solutions. Most importantly, you'll be trusted - to act objectively, communicate clearly and handle sensitive issues with professionalism and care.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Background in law enforcement, intelligence, military policing or corporate investigations.
  • Proven experience undertaking internal and external investigations and surveillance operations.
  • Experience handling whistleblowing or sensitive allegations.
  • Strong knowledge of UK criminal law relating to theft and fraud.
  • Ability to produce high quality, structured investigation reports.
  • Experience designing and maintaining security or surveillance processes and systems.

  • Experience within manufacturing, logistics, construction or building materials environments.
