Are you an experienced and dynamic Multi Skilled Supervisor looking for your next position? We are currently looking for an Area Relief Supervisor based primarily at our Mangreen depot, but providing operative and supervisor cover across the South East Aggregates business. The role will involve undertaking multiple cover duties within S&G Quarries, Recycling depots, railhead and more. Duties will include operations of mobile plant such as Loading shovels, Telehandlers, Tractors etc. Operation of Tarmac Weighbridges and also supervision of sites, staff and contractors to provide cover and assistance for Managers and Supervisors.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operating Mobile Plant on sites
  • Operation of Weighbridges
  • Discharge of Trains
  • Supervision of Staff and Contractors
  • Assisting the Operations Manager with meeting daily/weekly production targets
  • Following SHE policies and procedures
  • Ensuring Plant conforms with safety requirements at all times
  • Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities
  • Inspections on the fixed and mobile plant, acting on defects and implement remedial action
  • Ensuring that plant availability is maximised
  • Working to keep housekeeping around site to a high standard
  • Acting as an isolation owner for Maintenance activities by staff and contractors
  • Undertaking Contractor Clearances and Issuing Permits
  • Undertaking Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Stop Assessments

The nature of the role will require frequent travel to depots other than your base and may include OOH work such as nights and weekends as required by the business, so flexibility with working hours is essential. All hours beyond 48hr working week will be paid at set overtime rates. The role does come with a van and for periods of work a greater distance from the base depot we can arrange accommodation if needed.

Ideal Candidate

  • NVQ SHE LVL4 or willing to work towards
  • IOSH Supervising or Managing Safely or willing to work towards
  • IT Literate
  • Loading Shovel License - highly desirable
  • Telehandler Licence- Advantageous
  • Tractor Licence- Advantageous
  • 360 Excavator - Advantageous
  • Experience with unloading trains and/or Rail Safety Trained- Advantageous
  • Good Timekeeping - flexible as to the business requirements
  • Good Communication skills - bringing problems to the attention of Line Management
  • Previous experience in mobile plant operations
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role
  • Full UK manual car Driving Licence with no more than 6 penalty points
  • Previous experience working in a Recycling / Asphalt / RMX / Plant / Quarry / Industrial Manufacturing environment would prove highly beneficial; but this is not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.
