Keeping our operation running safely, efficiently, and reliably. Are you an experienced industrial electrician looking for a night shift role where your skills make a real difference? We are looking for a Maintenance Electrician (Nights) to join our engineering team at our Mountsorrel Quarry, in Quorn, near to Loughborough in Leicestershire to help maintain the electrical systems that keep our quarry running around the clock. This is an exciting opportunity to work with heavy fixed plant machinery, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and play a crucial role in maintaining safe, reliable site operations.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Electrician, you will ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of electrical equipment across the quarry site. This includes planned and reactive maintenance, testing, inspections, fault diagnostics, and supporting wider engineering and production teams. You will contribute to site safety, equipment reliability, and future development projects while working within a dynamic, fast-paced industrial environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on fixed and mobile electrical plant including conveyors, crushers, screens, motors, control panels, and lighting.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and fault diagnostics to meet BS 7671, PUWER, and Quarry Regulations.
- Respond promptly and safely to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Install, modify, and commission electrical equipment following safe isolation and lock out/tag out procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activity.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical fitters, production teams, and supervisors.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives such as energy efficiency, automation, and equipment reliability.
- Assist with contractor coordination and ensure high standards of electrical safety and workmanship.
- Champion a positive safety culture through toolbox talks, risk assessments, and proactive hazard reporting.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with strong technical skills, a safety-first approach, and experience working with heavy industrial or quarrying electrical systems. You will be a skilled industrial or heavy plant electrician who is confident working in challenging environments and wants to take ownership of keeping high-value equipment running safely.
Qualifications / Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Experience with fixed plant machinery, motors, three-phase systems, and industrial control equipment.
- Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, EAWR.
- Additional qualifications such as MPQC or IOSH (beneficial).
You’ll also bring:
- Strong electrical fault finding and diagnostic skills on industrial machinery.
- Understanding of control systems, motors, sensors, and PLC based systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Solid working knowledge of UK electrical regulations and quarry specific safety requirements.
- Ability to plan and carry out safe isolations and authorised live testing.
- Competence using digital maintenance systems.
- A strong safety focused mindset.
- Methodical approach to problem solving.
- Great communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks independently.
- Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Pattern
This role operates on a night shift, offering quieter operational hours while still playing a vital part in maintaining site performance. Fortnightly rotating shift pattern: 7pm - 5am (Monday to Thursday / Tuesday to Friday) plus 1 weekend in 6 on call.
