Are you a Site / Quarry Manager/ Supervisor looking for your next role? Would you like an operational management role with full oversight of the Quarry that also enables you to undertake hands-on tasks including operating loading shovel, weighbridge duties and assisting with basic maintenance tasks? If so, then this could be the role for you. We are currently recruiting an experienced operational Quarry Manager to manage our operations at our Tarmac Cairdshill Quarry, Keith. This is a small quarry so as well as managing the site you'll undertake hands-on production tasks too including operating the loading shovel, weighbridge duties and supporting with basic maintenance tasks. This role is easily accessible from Inverness, Elgin, Forres, Kinloss, Lossiemouth, Keith and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Quarry Manager will manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on the site.
- Safety and operational standards are the fundamentals of the role with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key.
- Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring that legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.
- The role of Quarry Manager will have full responsibility for:
- Managing, coaching and developing a highly skilled, fit for purpose and extremely motivated team using KPIs to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk.
- All aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations and producing operational reports.
- Maintaining and implementing existing and new Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training your staff on the same.
- Managing and overseeing the safe operation of the Quarry and the planned preventative maintenance of all site equipment.
- Ensuring that the Plant meets operational and production requirements.
- Proactively managing both mandatory training and developmental training of staff.
- Collating and reporting monthly performance KPIs for your business unit.
- Ensuring a one team approach, having buy-in from all members of staff to maximise outputs and have clear working goals.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Quarry Manager will have experience in Quarrying operations or a similar working environment and possess a good understanding of Quarry Regulations 1999 as a Regulation 8.1(c) appointment - we will consider 8.1(d).
Suitable candidates for the role of Quarry Manager will have:
- SHE NVQ Level 4 or QCF Level 6.
- Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport extracted minerals and its applications within the industry. This may include feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniques.
- Understanding different methods of winning and extracting raw material.
- Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems.
- Working knowledge of production processes, Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
- Strong drive for continuous improvement to reduce costs where possible and minimise waste streams through effective monitoring and processing.
- Strong IT skills including SAP (preferred) and Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to multitask and effectively manage change.
- Ability to manage staff effectively and empower them to make good decisions.
- IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous.
- Wheeled Loading shovel qualification advantageous.
