We are currently looking for a permanent Head of Mechanical to join our team at Dunbar Cement Plant.

This role is site based 5 days per week, Monday to Friday on a 37 hour week.

Role Responsibility

In the role of Head of Mechanical you will be responsible for:

Medium to long-term objectives of the Mechanical Maintenance department. Acting as a champion for engineering improvements and promoting best practices for the Plant.

Managing and motivating the team, ensuring coordination and cooperation between Maintenance and other Plant departments.

Identifying skills gaps within the team, building plans for development including 1-2-1's and PDP's, supporting longer term retention and succession planning.

Ensuring completion of mechanical maintenance tasks with the highest level of safety, quality and effectiveness at minimum cost to maximise equipment availability, applying preventative and predictive maintenance practices which are measured and monitored using specific maintenance KPI's.

Working closely with the engineering leadership team to define the medium and long-term strategy for the Plant maintenance.

Plant operations are 365 days, 24/7 and the role requires flexibility to ensure effective running of the plant. This may involve night working, weekend and Bank holidays, and being on call if necessary.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Head of Mechanical will have experience in a similar role as well as experience/knowledge of:

Leading a Mechanical Maintenance department ideally gained within the Cement industry or similar heavy industrial plant environment. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.

Operating within safety regulations, standards and managing statutory compliance against these standards.

Tackling complex technical challenges with an analytical and problem-solving mindset.

Possess technical knowledge of mechanical and process control maintenance operations.

Financial management and budget control.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • NEBOSH
  • Practical Engineering operations
  • Knowledge and experience of RCA techniques
