We are currently looking for a Head of Electrical at our Dunbar Cement Plant, which is located close to Edinburgh. The site is easily accessible from Edinburgh, Berwick upon Tweed, North Berwick, Bonnyrigg, Haddington and surrounding areas.

Main ResponsibilitiesAs the successful Head of Electrical you will report to the Assistant Engineering Manager and will be part of our multi‑functional maintenance team, playing an integral part in the management maintenance team at Dunbar Cement Plant. On a day to day basis, duties and responsibilities of the Head of Electrical will include (not exhaustive):
- Acting as a champion for engineering improvements and promoting best practice for the plant
- Delivering improvements projects to plant; formulating financial plans and executing work
- Applying preventative and predictive maintenance practices and contributing to plant improvements
- Highlighting long term plant risks to senior management, assisting with repair plans
- Ensuring sustainable performance aligned to plant objectives, values and behaviours
- Preparing and managing obsolescence and replacement plans
- Monitoring execution of electrical tasks through spot checks, following up with feedback
- Identifying skills gaps within the electrical team, building plans for development including 1‑2‑1’s and PDP’s, supporting longer term retention and succession planning
- Developing capex CIA’s and proposal budgets for plant improvements, whilst managing monthly budgets and overspend
- Ensuring Electrical Statutory inspections are carried out in line with legislation, and follow on work created from these inspections has been completed
- Conducting weekly safety briefings, whilst actively participating in near hit reporting & safety online actions
The ideal Head of Electrical will be able to demonstrate senior management engineering experience gained within heavy industry. They will also possess an in-depth knowledge of high voltage infrastructure, hydraulics, pneumatics, motor circuits, electricity and electronics including UK legislation knowledge regarding electricity at work.
Specific Requirements:- 18th Edition
- Experience of Atex and DSEAR experience and/or hold a CompEx qualification
- Degree or equivalent
- Must understand engineering and business principles
- NEBOSH or IOSH preferable
- Financial management and budget control
- Management/supervisory experience of an electrical team
