Are you ready to take the next step in a fast‑paced quarrying environment? We are seeking a proactive and hands‑on Quarry Supervisor to join our team at Tarmac's Clitheroe Quarry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operative or emerging leader who is ready to progress into a supervisory role within a business that prioritises safety, performance, and long‑term career development.

The Role

Reporting to the Quarry Section Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑performing quarry and plant operations. You will lead by example, supporting your team to deliver production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience within quarrying, aggregates, asphalt, or a similar heavy industrial environment
  • Competence in operating or supervising mobile plant (e.g. excavators, loading shovels, crushers, screens)
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate, coach, and hold individuals accountable
  • A clear commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain operational continuity
  • Good working knowledge of IT systems (e.g. SAP, Excel or equivalent)
  • 8.1(d) appointment (or working towards)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Quarry Section Manager in delivering safe and efficient day‑to‑day operations
  • Supervise a team of operatives and contractors, ensuring clear direction and accountability
  • Embed and promote a strong safety‑first culture through visible leadership
  • Coordinate production, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping activities
  • Utilise systems such as Multitrack to manage performance, compliance, and reporting
  • Work collaboratively with other supervisors to maximise plant efficiency and output
  • Maintain a hands‑on presence across both quarry and asphalt operations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives
