Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC experience and a flair for commercial problem solving? We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Highways team based at our Flax Bourton office in Bristol, supporting a range of projects across the Southwest & South Wales region. This role is easily commutable from Weston-super-Mare, Bristol, Chepstow, Newport, Cardiff, Gloucester and surrounding areas.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Reporting directly to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you’ll bring commercial expertise from highways, surfacing, civil engineering or similar project environments.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Recording, monitoring and reviewing the financial performance of contracts
- Preparing and submitting monthly applications for payment and final accounts
- Producing monthly CVRs and forecasts (internal and client-facing)
- Securing customer payments within agreed contract terms
- Procuring subcontractors and managing subcontractor accounts
- Ensuring full compliance with Tarmac and client processes
- Issuing Early Warnings and managing Compensation Events under NEC contracts
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities to support project success
What We’re Looking For
- We’re open to candidates with a Degree in Quantity Surveying, HND, or those who are qualified by experience (QBE).
- You will also bring:
- Strong understanding of NEC contracts
- A passion for safety and doing things the right way
- Proven commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical ability
- Good numeracy skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
- Willingness to travel across sites in the region
- Good IT skills, especially spreadsheets, databases and ability to learn bespoke systems
- Experience within the PAVE / Road Surfacing sector preferred
