Are you a confident writer who can turn complex technical information into clear, persuasive and compelling content? We're looking for a talented Bid Writer to join Tarmac, supporting the securement of high-value opportunities across our UK operations. This is a key role within our commercial and business development activity, where your words will directly influence our success. Working as part of a collaborative, fast-paced team, you'll help shape winning submissions that showcase our expertise, innovation and value to customers.
In this role, you'll take ownership of producing high-quality bid and tender submissions that stand out for clarity, consistency and impact. You'll be responsible for:
- Writing and coordinating responses for bids, tenders, PQQs and ITTs, ensuring they are client-focused and compliant
- Working closely with subject matter experts across the business to gather, develop and refine technical input
- Turning detailed operational and technical information into engaging, well-structured and persuasive written responses
- Managing bid activity to agreed deadlines, coordinating reviews and ensuring submissions are accurate, complete and professionally presented
- Maintaining and developing bid content libraries, templates and standard responses to drive quality and consistency
- Contributing to continuous improvement of our bid processes, content and ways of working
We're looking for someone who combines strong writing capability with organisation and attention to detail. You'll ideally bring:
- Proven experience in bid writing, proposal writing or a similar role, with the ability to tailor content to different audiences
- Excellent written communication skills, with a clear, concise and persuasive style
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
- Confidence working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and technical experts
- A proactive, detail‑focused mindset with a commitment to producing high-quality work
- Experience within construction, infrastructure or a technical environment would be beneficial, but is not essential
