We’re looking for a MESS Analyst to play a key role in shaping how our national supply network operates. This is a highly commercial, data‑driven position where your insight will directly influence profitability, efficiency and customer service across multiple manufacturing sites and distribution points. Working within the national Sales & Operations Planning (S&O) framework, you’ll analyse production capacity, transport costs, product specifications and customer requirements to identify the most cost‑effective source of supply. It’s a role that sits at the heart of the business, partnering closely with commercial, operations and supply chain teams to ensure smart, balanced decisions that deliver measurable financial impact. If you enjoy solving complex problems, working with large datasets, and turning analysis into action, this is an opportunity to make a real difference at scale.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Optimise supply‑source decisions across the national network, ensuring the right product is delivered from the right place at the right cost.
- Analyse customer orders and supply options, balancing production costs, transportation expense, capacity constraints and service requirements to determine the most economical solution.
- Maintain and refine the MESS model, including cost and revenue analysis, reason‑code tracking and monitoring non‑optimal or cross‑border deliveries.
- Review production capacity and network footprint, identify constraints and opportunities, and make recommendations to improve utilisation and efficiency.
- Produce weekly and monthly reports that highlight performance trends, compliance with optimal supply decisions and opportunities to improve margin.
- Work closely with commercial, operations, logistics and planning teams to investigate deviations from optimal supply, quantify financial impact and drive practical improvements.
- Contribute to the monthly S&OP process, providing analysis, insight and clear recommendations to support effective decision‑making.
- Support the development of dashboards and analytical tools using Power BI and Anaplan to increase visibility, strengthen governance and improve supply‑chain decision‑making.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in supply‑chain planning, operations analysis, business analysis or a similar analytical role.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with business‑intelligence tools such as Power BI or Tableau is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with ERP or planning systems such as SAP or Anaplan is an advantage.
- Degree in a relevant analytical discipline (supply chain, operations, engineering, business, data analytics or mathematics).
- Professional or process‑improvement qualifications considered a plus.
- Strong communication skills to present insight to operational and senior audiences.
- Collaborative, resilient, adaptable and keen to continuously learn and improve how things are done.
Benefits
- Bonus scheme
- Enhanced holiday entitlement
- Contributory pension scheme
- Access to the Tarmac Reward website with discounts on retailers, holidays, etc.
- Access to our Employee Assistance helpline for free and confidential advice
- Access to join our Employee Communities (religious, ethnic, cultural heritage, LGBTQ+, parents & carers, ability, wellbeing, female voice and menopause)
