We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Manager working in our Materials & Contracting Region at our site in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. The site is easily accessible from Market Drayton, Whitchurch, Oswestry, Telford, Bridgnorth, Stafford, Cannock, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, West Bromwich, Church Stretton, Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

Role Responsibility
Reporting into the Regional Managing Director, the successful Senior Technical Manager will lead the regional technical team to ensure maximum performance by executing the technical strategy aligned to all health, safety, quality and environmental requirements in addition to rules of business & governance requirements. You will also (as part of the Regional Leadership team), develop and execute short & long term strategies aligned with overall Tarmac and CRH strategy and values.
On a day to day basis, duties and responsibilities of the Senior Technical Manager will include (not exhaustive):
- Delivering and exceeding performance targets
- Developing a robust, diverse and inclusive succession plan for all key roles within the technical team
- Working in partnership with Tarmac’s technical performance team and the wider CRH to achieve all KPIs and share and implement best practice solutions
- Identifying, assessing and implementing change which improves product quality, stock and HSEQ performance
- Ensuring any HSEQ incidents become learning events and that outcomes are shared and acted upon
- Working alongside Technical colleagues to ensure the quality of our products is optimum to customer requirements
- Managing the Contracting technical requirements including the optimum use of subcontract technical resource for specific contracts
- Working with operational teams to deliver solutions to slow moving stock and mineral related product issues
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal Senior Technical Manager will be someone who has demonstrable leadership skills, has an ability to communicate a vision and motivate a large team of employees. You will also be able to demonstrate a track record in financial and health and safety performance targets plus have expertise in developing and executing business strategies.
