We are currently looking for a Technician (Ready Mixed Concrete) to join our Ready Mix team based at our Tarmac Sellafield Concrete Plant in Cumbria. As well as Seascale, this role is easily accessible from Egremont, Whitehaven, Workington, Cleator Moor, Cockermouth, Broughton-in-Furness, Kirkby-in-Furness and all the surrounding areas.

Role ResponsibilityReporting directly to the Sellafield Technical Manager, the role of Technician (Ready Mixed Concrete) will be responsible for sampling and testing of various Ready Mixed Concrete Products from Tarmac's supplying concrete plants. The role will also be responsible for:
- Ensuring sampling procedures are fully adhered to, understood and documented to comply with the relevant British Standard.
- Informing the Sellafield Technical Manager when quality standards are being compromised and taking appropriate action to rectify quality issues.
- Helping investigate and resolve complaints and queries.
- At times, visiting other Tarmac sites to carry out various sampling and testing duties.
- Sampling and testing will be carried out to the highest safety standards and within your manual handling capabilities.
- Ensuring the quality of the materials is monitored at all times for both internal and external customers.
- Adhering to company Health and Safety procedures at all times.
The ideal candidate for the role will have prior experience gained working within a concrete sampling environment, within the construction sector. You will also possess knowledge of ready mixed concrete testing and production. This is NOT a typical lab coat laboratory type of role; this is a vital hands-on site-based role, working in a small team closely supporting the Sellafield Ready Mixed Concrete plant. Suitable candidates will be:
- Hard working and self-motivated.
- Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and to liaise with stakeholders of varying seniority levels.
- Accurate in their work and with strong attention to detail/able to identify potential risks/issues (training will be provided).
- Able to work independently and to collaborate as part of a wider team across several Tarmac sites in the area.
- IT literate.
- Possess a good numerical aptitude (handling calculations/interpreting results).
- Flexible in their working approach.
- Health and Safety conscious.
Please note: employment is subject to candidate successfully obtaining a P4 security pass for Sellafield site.
