We are currently recruiting for an experienced leader to join our team at Tarmac's Cement Plant in Dunbar, Scotland. The Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant by leading all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities across the site. You will be a key member of the Senior Management Team, responsible for driving high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational reliability, while supporting the plant's long-term strategy and performance.

As Dunbar Cement Plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, this role requires flexibility. This may include occasional night working, weekends, bank holidays, and being on call as required to ensure the safe and effective running of the plant. You will build and maintain strong working relationships across the site and wider business, working closely with production, technical, and support functions to maximise plant availability and performance.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Safety
    • Promote and role-model a safety-first culture across the maintenance function.
    • Ensure the highest standards are maintained in line with CRH Life Saving Rules, legal requirements, and Company policies.
    • Drive a Zero Harm culture through visible safety leadership, coaching, and high standards of compliance.
    • Ensure robust risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work are in place and consistently followed.
    • Lead Safety Leadership Interactions (SLIs) and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Management, Leadership & Communication
    • Lead, motivate, and develop a multi-disciplined maintenance team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
    • Manage employee relations in line with Company policies and procedures.
    • Drive the annual performance cycle, including 1-1s, appraisals, and development planning.
    • Support recruitment, succession planning, and retention of critical skills within the maintenance team.
    • Build strong, collaborative relationships with production, engineering, HR, finance, procurement, and external partners.
