We are currently looking for a Road Surfacing Supervisor to join our Yorkshire team at Tarmac. This regional Supervisor role is easily accessible from Sheffield, Worksop, Leeds, Wakefield, Castleford, Barnsley, Bradford, Huddersfield, Doncaster, Goole and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

  • Managing surfacing schemes across the whole of the business areas, both on the motorway and local network, ensuring Health and Safety policies and procedures are always adhered to by all on site.
  • Communicating effectively daily with gang/Foreperson by carrying out daily briefings and through on-site presence.
  • Managing on-site paperwork and other relevant administration tasks in line with our Business Management System.
  • Planning and Supervision of site operations to ensure works are completed to the highest standard, complying with contract specification and preventing remedial action. Identify works outside contract scope to Surfacing Manager / Quantity Surveyor.
  • Optimising cost control and operational efficiency to achieve agreed budget.
  • Motivating staff and workforce to achieve the highest level of performance.
  • Develop and maintain Customer relationships.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience of working within the surfacing industry.
  • Hold a CSCS qualification.
  • Have ideally SMSTS but minimum SSSTS.
  • Experience in asphalts and road laying with an understanding of both the Specification for Highways Works and the British Standard 594987.
  • Ideally experienced in project work including motorways.
  • Experience of supervising and developing a team.
  • Good communicator.
  • Experience of engaging with people of varying seniority levels both internally and externally.
  • Knowledgeable and adhere to company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Flexible in their working approach (there will be an element of night-time working and weekend work).
  • Able to work independently but also as part of a team.
  • Motivated.
