We are currently seeking an Apprentice Operative to join our South West and Wales Operations Team based at Gore Quarry. At Tarmac, our Operatives are the heartbeat of our business - helping to manufacture the essential materials that shape roads, buildings, and infrastructure across the country. As an Apprentice Operative, you'll be part of a team that works with purpose, pride, and precision.

What you'll be doing:

  • Operating production equipment such as cranes, forklifts, mobile and fixed plant systems
  • Carrying out basic maintenance and inspections to keep equipment running smoothly
  • Supporting a safe working environment and upholding our high safety standards
  • Being a role model for health and safety - looking out for yourself and your team
  • Working collaboratively to drive continuous improvement and strong team communication
  • Taking pride in your work and being determined to succeed

Life on site! You will work both inside and outside, sometimes in a dusty or confined environment. However, your health and safety are our number one priority and full protective clothing is provided. Your colleagues are also there to help and look out for you, as safety is everyone's responsibility.

Your Development: Apprenticeships at Tarmac are more than just training - they're a launchpad for your future. You'll gain hands-on experience, build valuable skills, and earn a recognised qualification, all while bringing fresh ideas and energy to your team!

Qualification: Mineral Processing Mobile and Static Plant Operator Level 2 Apprenticeship. You will need to travel to the National Skills and Safety Park in Macclesfield NG20 9JF. The course will be delivered in block release, so accommodation and travel expenses will be provided.

  • Essential GCSEs Maths and English (or equivalent) at pass grade. However, we can support you gain the qualifications you need as part of your apprenticeship so don't worry!
