We are currently looking for a Mobile Maintenance Fitter to join our friendly team based on one of our Midlands plants. This role will be to work on the plants supporting a large infrastructure project along with plants from our own core business. The base site is easily accessible via most major road networks, based in the heart of the Midlands and is commutable from Birmingham, Coventry, Kenilworth, Nuneaton, Redditch, Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, Wolverhampton, Cannock, Tamworth, Towcester, Stratford-on-Avon, Royal Leamington Spa, Daventry, Northampton, Rugby and the surrounding areas.

The role is a days role so you will be required to work Monday to Friday, with overtime available to meet with our sites needs. A company vehicle is provided for this role.

Reporting to the Ready-mix Maintenance Manager, the role of Mobile Maintenance Fitter will have responsibility for inspection, maintenance, and service of our Ready-mix Concrete Plants. As a member of the Maintenance team, you will provide PPM and breakdown response to the Ready-mix business delivering the Maintenance Strategy for your area of cover and best practice by driving a culture of continuous improvement.

As well as PPM, the Mobile Maintenance Fitter will respond to emergency and plant breakdowns in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment including conveyors, pneumatics as well as fabrication/welding plant and be responsible for ensuring assets are returned to production and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution.

The role of Mobile Maintenance Fitter will also be responsible for:

  • Owning small scale projects and delivering them in a pragmatic and proactive manner
  • Taking a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and PPM
  • Coordinating with contractors and suppliers when they are on site
  • Participating in root cause analysis so repeat failures can be eliminated
  • Welding and Fabricating to a good standard
  • Working with risk assessments and method statements and contributing to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures
  • Utilising the computerised maintenance management system and recording all work including fault descriptions, spares used and repairs carried out

The ideal candidate for the role of Mobile Maintenance Fitter will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work with minimal supervision. You should also demonstrate proven experience working within an Industrial, Factory or similar environment as a Mobile Fitter. Strong, practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred - conveyors, pneumatics, drive systems motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes.

Experience working in the Ready-Mix Concrete or Quarrying industry would prove a distinct advantage. Competence in the use of application-based inspection schemes. Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly.
