Are you an experienced Technical Manager with a proven ability to lead teams, deliver business performance and drive continuous improvement? Do you enjoy developing talented people, influencing strategy and building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders? Can you balance operational excellence, commercial performance and innovation whilst maintaining an uncompromising focus on safety and wellbeing?

We are looking for a Senior Technical Manager to join our South West and Wales Leadership Team, leading the regional technical function across our aggregates and asphalt business. This is a highly influential leadership role where you'll be responsible for driving technical excellence, delivering strategic objectives and developing a high-performing team that supports the region's long-term success.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Reporting to the Regional Managing Director, you'll lead the regional technical team to maximise performance, champion a culture of zero harm and ensure technical operations support both business growth and sustainability objectives.
  • Leading and developing the regional technical team to deliver exceptional performance.
  • Driving the technical strategy and optimisation priorities across the region.
  • Supporting operational teams to improve efficiency and maximise product performance, including the use of RAP materials.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and quality enhancement.
  • Supporting contract bids with innovative technical solutions and pavement design proposals.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, highways engineers, local authorities and industry stakeholders.
  • Coaching and developing future leaders through effective succession planning.
  • Promoting a culture of safety, collaboration and operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience within aggregates and asphalt technical operations, alongside a strong track record of delivering business results through effective leadership.
  • Excellent knowledge of aggregate and asphalt specifications, standards and legislation.
  • Proven experience delivering financial and operational targets.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Commercial awareness and a customer-focused approach.
  • Confidence to challenge, influence and drive positive change.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A passion for developing people and building high-performing teams.

The successful candidate can be based at either Stancombe, near Bristol, or Hendy, Pontyclun, with the role offering easy access from Bristol, Newport, Cardiff, Gloucester, Bridgend, Cwmbran, Weston-super-Mare and surrounding areas.
