Are you hands-on, safety-focused and looking for a varied operational role where no two days are the same? We're looking for a Multi Skilled Operative to join our team at Dolyhir & Strinds Quarry near Presteigne. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in industrial, manufacturing, production, construction or quarrying environments who wants to develop their skills, operate heavy machinery and play a key role in supplying essential materials for major construction projects. This varied role will provide you with the opportunity to learn new skills and operate specialist equipment whilst also giving you training and development too. Part of a supportive and experienced team you will be working within a leading building materials organisation that has a safety-first culture with high operational standards.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Multi Skilled Operative, you'll be part of an operational team responsible for producing dry aggregates materials used throughout the construction industry while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental performance. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Operating machinery and working with aggregates across the site
- Carrying out housekeeping duties to maintain a safe working environment
- Operating the weighbridge
- Driving a loading shovel
- Supporting routine maintenance activities
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the site
- Promoting a culture of zero harm and behavioural safety
- Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental procedures
- Training on and operating static plant equipment to support plant optimisation and efficiency
What We're Looking For
We're interested in hearing from candidates who have experience as an operative, labourer or production team member within a quarry or asphalt plant, industrial, construction or similar environment. Suitable candidates will also demonstrate:
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Positive, flexible and proactive approach to work
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-skilled operational team
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Self-motivation and the ability to support and motivate colleagues
- Understanding of workplace risk assessments
- Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), HIRA and permit systems (desirable but not essential)
- Commitment to company standards, objectives and safe working practices
- Knowledge of quarrying or the aggregates industry (advantageous)
Location: based at Dolyhir and Strinds Quarry, near Presteigne, Herefordshire this role is easily accessed from Hereford, Hay-on-Wye, Ludlow, Leominster, Llandrindod Wells, Newtown and the surrounding areas.
