Transport Planner – Tarmac Hub, Mountsorrel, Leicestershire
The role is based at our modern Mountsorrel Hub location near Loughborough, Leicestershire. It offers hybrid working (one day per week after probation) and a varied, rewarding schedule.
What you're going to do
As a Transport Planner you will ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of materials across the region, working closely with customers, drivers, planners, hauliers and internal teams.
- Monitor same‑day deliveries and handle customer queries and complaints professionally and effectively.
- Plan next‑day and future deliveries to maximise fleet efficiency.
- Manage inbound and outbound customer and driver communications.
- Proactively communicate delivery updates and service changes.
- Coordinate internal and external transport assets.
- Maintain accurate records and operational data.
- Manage costs while delivering excellent service levels.
- Raise and escalates any safety concerns immediately.
- Build strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
What we're looking for
Suitable candidates will have:
- Previous experience in fleet planning, transport planning, logistics coordination or scheduling.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong customer service and telephone communication skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Collaborative approach and strong team‑working skills.
- Commercial awareness and sound decision‑making ability.
- Strong IT skills and experience using planning or scheduling systems.
- Knowledge of transport legislation (advantageous).
- Geographical knowledge of the Midlands region (preferred).
