We are currently looking for an Internal Sales Representative to join our amazing Readymix team based out of Tarmac Agecroft in Salford, near Manchester. This role is easily accessible from Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Ashton-under-Lyne, Warrington, Wigan, St Helens, Chorley and the surrounding areas.

This role will directly manage, engage and develop a predetermined portfolio of Tarmac customer accounts aligned to the commercial strategy. You will also ensure optimum success with direct customer account management. Success is determined by the achievement of profit, revenue and tonnage target requirements in line with all commercial expectations.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Internal Sales Supervisor, the role of Internal Sales Representative will be responsible for customer management, focusing on managing, developing and being the first point of contact for a portfolio of accounts determined by the commercial management team. Your role will also involve commercial planning ensuring all accounts within your portfolio are managed by the creation of accurate, relevant and up to date Account Action Plans.

  • Commercial Process: Ensure that all commercial target requirements are achieved through a diligent and intelligent approach aligned with commercial strategy.
  • Commercial Intelligence: Forge relationships beyond immediate account portfolio with key influencers to gather market and commercial intelligence. Feed relevant data into the Sales Pipeline management process, sharing and escalating knowledge within the business for commercial gain.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with predetermined portfolio of customer accounts; managing successful internal relationships.
  • Customer Service: Ensure the customer service expectations are met through influence developing a service excellence ethos.
  • Sales Management: In accordance with predetermined financial expectations, through account management achieve the securing of targeted levels of revenue and profit with pricing decisions all in accordance with Tarmac Pricing Policies. Full compliance with the competition act 1998.
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Internal Sales Representative will have previous sales experience and be able to create rapport through considered questioning and accurate active listening. You will also demonstrate the ability to build relationships and trust through providing solutions to a customer's pain derived from explorative interaction.

In addition to proven sales capability, suitable candidates for the role of Internal Sales Representative will also:

  • Understand how to gain commitment and always be aware of how to close the deal.
  • Be able to handle situations in a positive manner where conflict exists without giving away company liability.
  • Demonstrate skills in tracking and developing a portfolio of accounts forging working relationships with customers and being the go-to person for own customers.
  • Know how to negotiate using effective questioning and listening to establish customer needs vs. wants.
  • Be proficient in convincing/persuading others.
  • Be effective at adapting appropriate approaches to influence and persuade others.
  • Have experience using IT systems and when taking calls demonstrate a consistent professional style and approach.
  • Have proven self-management including flexibility, prioritising, planning, monitoring own activity and progress.
  • Have experience making decisions and adopting a systematic process which accounts for options, risks and commercial gain in line with the needs of the business and the Tarmac Pricing Policies.
