We are recruiting a Multi Skilled Operative to support the safe, efficient production of dry aggregates at Tarmac Quarrington Quarry, Quarrington Hill, County Durham. This is a great opportunity for someone with an industrial, quarrying or plant background who enjoys responsibility, teamwork and developing their technical skills.

Easily accessible from Ferryhill, Spennymoor, Newton Aycliffe, Peterlee, Sedgefield, Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Consett, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and surrounding areas.

What you'll be doing:

  • Operating mobile plant and site machinery (dumpers, loading shovels, static plant)
  • Supporting daily production targets and on-time customer deliveries
  • Carrying out routine plant maintenance and housekeeping
  • Assisting with weighbridge duties
  • Working closely with supervisors and team members to maximise plant availability
  • Championing high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance
  • Promoting a strong behavioural safety and zero-harm culture on site

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in an industrial, quarry, factory or aggregates environment (preferred)
  • Mobile plant experience (shovel / ADT / excavator desirable but not essential)
  • A proactive, flexible approach and strong teamwork skills
  • Good communication and timekeeping
  • Willingness to learn new skills and develop operational and supervisory capability
  • Understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work (beneficial)
  • IT literacy and a full UK driving licence
  • Plant tickets and shovel licence are advantageous, but full training can be provided for the right candidate.
