We are currently looking for an experienced Technical Sales Representative to join our amazing ReadyMix team at Tarmac Birtley in Co Durham. This role is a regional position covering the North East & Yorkshire markets. Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the role of Technical Sales Representative will be dynamic in establishing relationships with our external customers to maintain price, volume and profit for the business across the customer portfolio. Responsibilities of the Technical Sales Representative role (not exhaustive):
- Manage and grow a portfolio of customers
- Play a proactive role in increasing the Value Added Product (VAP) solution sales across the product range for the area, along with providing on-site support to oversee successful application of all products
- Engage with the external sales teams to identify new or existing business opportunities to capitalise upon by using in-depth technical knowledge on conventional and specialised products
- Manage commercial negotiations and take decisions with calculated risks, to enhance or gain commercial advantage
- Establish new and expand existing relationships with key customers setting ambitious targets
- Ensure products sold are fit for purpose and aligned to the customer need to minimise complaints and service issues/queries
- Aim to achieve maximum selling price through use of Commercial Acumen supported by use of CE tools during negotiations
- Manage commercial negotiations and use upsell techniques to increase VAP sales
- Devise marketing plans for our VAP offering to customer/sectors to drive optimum commercial success
- During commercial negotiations, link products to the achievement of the customers' objectives
- Establish likelihood of sales closure by developing solutions for customers and ensuring we have a strong position in deal negotiation, driving to close business with the customer
- Keep up to date on technical standards and regulations and ensure changes are effectively communicated to the team and wider business
- Ensure KPIs set by the Area Commercial Manager are achieved (i.e. customer visits / output calls / volume & value information etc)
- Work closely with the external team to expand their technical knowledge for competitive advantage in the market
In the role you will be in liaison with stakeholders across the business, ranging from General Managers, Commercial Managers, Site Teams, Accounts, Technical, Customers, and Suppliers.

- Experience: Demonstration of managing and developing customer accounts, commercial understanding of our business within sector, working cross-functionally to deliver customer requirements, be able to utilise commercial tools in your normal working day
- Skills / Knowledge: An excellent understanding of regional market, understanding of the competitive landscape, high level of drive & determination to succeed, ability to identify customer needs and build solutions, along with comprehensive product knowledge
