Are you an experienced Supervisor looking for your next challenge in a fast-paced quarrying and production environment? If you're a hands-on leader with experience in quarrying, aggregates, asphalt, heavy plant, manufacturing or industrial operations then we want to hear from you. We're seeking a Relief Quarry Supervisor to play a key role in the day-to-day running of our busy quarry operation. This is a varied position that combines people leadership, operational supervision, plant operations, compliance and continuous improvement, offering excellent opportunities to develop your career within a leading construction materials business.
Location: based at Cloddach Sand and Gravel Quarry in Elgin, the role is easily accessible from Inverness, Forres, Kinloss, Lossiemouth and surrounding areas.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting directly to the Section Manager, you'll support the safe and efficient operation of the quarry while leading site teams and ensuring production targets are achieved. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and supporting Operators, Fitters and Electricians across the quarry
- Operating fixed and mobile plant as required
- Supporting site administration, compliance and operational reporting activities
- Using systems such as Fortek, SAP, Excel, Power BI and similar platforms
- Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
- Carrying out housekeeping activities and supporting maintenance tasks alongside the fitting team
- Working collaboratively with other Plant Supervisors to maximise operational performance and production output
- Ensuring plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently and in line with production plans
- Participating in occasional night shifts and weekend working as part of a rota
What We're Looking For
We're interested in speaking with candidates who have supervisory experience within quarrying, asphalt, aggregates, construction materials, mining, recycling, heavy industry, manufacturing or similar operational environments. Suitable candidates will also have:
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience (essential)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to engage effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
- Confidence working independently and leading teams to achieve operational targets
- Good IT skills and experience using operational systems
- Flexible and proactive approach to work
- Commitment to continuous improvement and team development
- Experience operating and maintaining processing plant equipment including excavators, loading shovels and dump trucks (advantageous)
- Experience operating and maintaining crushing and screening plant (advantageous)
- Health and safety management within an industrial environment
