Overview

The Area Relief Supervisor will manage and be accountable for the RMX operations at our plants.

You will be the Senior Supervisor where Safety and Operational standards are the fundamental aspects of the role, with cost control, people management, delivery to customer needs and performance improvement being key.

Managing plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensuring legislative compliance is also a strong aspect of the role.

We are recruiting for an Area Relief Supervisor to join our fantastic Tarmac Readymix 'RMX' team based at the Tarmac Silvertown RMX (Readymix) site in the heart of London and covering our London RMX plants.

This role requires flexibility to meet our production needs, including shift working and overtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and actively supervising the RMX operational teams and delivering toolbox talks
  • Managing all aspects of daily production, including operational costs and control stocks
  • Efficient manufacture of concrete, controlling standard deviation and cement contents
  • Driving operational performance through KPIs
  • Effectively coaching and performance managing all direct reports
  • Timely resolution of queries assigned to the sector
  • Taking responsibility for their own safety, and that of colleagues and business partners
  • Maintaining site housekeeping to a high standard
  • Batching concrete to meet customer needs while meeting internal quality requirements
  • Managing the budget for the plants, including fixed and variable costs
  • Holding a FULL UK manual car driving licence with no more than six penalty points
  • Desired Qualifications
  • Experience and knowledge of Readymix RMX plant operations at a supervisory level
  • Previous experience in an Asphalt / Aggregates environment, which would prove highly beneficial
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work systems
  • Working knowledge of production processes
  • Working knowledge of H&S and Environmental policies
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification
  • NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations

  • Able to actively identify and implement site and process improvements
  • Able to effectively communicate opportunities to customer services and sales teams
  • Able to multitask and manage change
