This role will suit someone practical, safety-focused and motivated to develop their skills - with scope to grow into more senior operational or supervisory responsibilities over time.
Youll be joining a high-performing nightshift operation where teamwork, pride in the job and doing things the right way are essential.
Hours: 42 hours per week
Shift pattern: 12-hour shift working 4 on / 4 off (7pm - 7am) including weekends
Location: Cross Green Asphalt Plant, Leeds (easily accessible from Leeds and surrounding areas)
The Role
Reporting to the Nightshift Supervisor, the Multi Skilled Operative (Nightshift) plays a key role in the production of asphalt and aggregates for the construction industry, while maintaining best-in-class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating the onsite asphalt plant to produce a range of asphalt products
- Supporting plant efficiency and optimisation during evening/nightshift operations
- Working with aggregates and operating mobile plant machinery
- Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards
- Promoting a strong zero-harm safety culture and behavioural safety
- Ensuring awareness and compliance with Health and Safety controls across site
About You
Youll have experience working within an industrial, factory or production environment and enjoy being part of a multi-skilled operational team. You take pride in a job well done, communicate well, and are keen to develop both technically and professionally.
Youll also ideally have:
- Experience within quarrying, asphalt or a similar heavy industry (desirable)
- A flexible, team-focused approach to work
- Self-motivation and the ability to positively influence others
- Knowledge of risk assessments in a plant or operational environment
- Understanding of SSOW (HIRA) and permit systems (preferred, not essential)
- Good basic IT skills
- A Shovel Licence (desirable)
