Ready to take ownership of complex plant maintenance in a fast-paced industrial site? We are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join a high-performing engineering team at a busy asphalt plant in Cross Green, Leeds. If you thrive on fault-finding, keeping heavy plant running, and making a real impact on production performance, this is the role for you.

Hours: 48 hours week
Shift Pattern: 06:00 - 16:00 Monday to Friday plus overtime (some nights and weekend work)

This role is easily commutable from Leeds, Rothwell, Oulton, Garforth, Wetherby, Wakefield, Castleford, Pontefract, Bradford, Dewsbury, Halifax and surrounding areas.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading planned and reactive mechanical maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Diagnosing faults across conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, crushers & screening equipment
  • Carrying out breakdown repairs quickly and safely to keep production on track
  • Supporting continuous improvement and root cause analysis
  • Undertaking welding and fabrication work to a strong standard
  • Owning small projects and improving plant reliability
  • Working with contractors and suppliers on-site
  • Using CMMS systems to record maintenance activity
  • Championing Health & Safety and safe working practices at all times

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience within heavy industry, Plant or manufacturing environments
  • Strong skills in fault finding and mechanical repairs
  • Confidence working on bearings, drives and rotating equipment
  • Welding & fabrication capability
  • Comfortable using maintenance systems and basic IT tools
  • A proactive mindset with a strong focus on safety and performance
  • Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship (preferred)
  • ONC/HNC (advantageous)
