We're looking for an Assistant Manager (Asphalt) to join our friendly team at our Halecombe Asphalt Plant in Frome. In this role, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the plant, ensuring everything operates safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards. You'll lead a team, manage budgets, and make sure our customers receive the high-quality products and service they expect.
What you'll be doing:
- Overseeing safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment
- Driving a strong safety culture through toolbox talks and risk assessments, implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Systems of Work
- Managing stock control, operational reporting, and budget performance
- Coaching and developing a high-performing team
- Supporting commercial teams to deliver excellent customer service
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives and change projects
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience in asphalt operations and plant management
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and environmental compliance
- SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6 and IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications desirable
- Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office
- A proactive approach to leadership, with the ability to manage change and drive performance and continuous improvement
