We are currently seeking a Trainee Supervisor to join our Contracting Team in the South West. This role is designed for individuals who are ready to build their future from the ground up, developing the skills and experience needed to lead site operations, manage resources, and deliver high-quality surfacing and civil engineering projects.
As a Trainee Supervisor, you will gain hands-on experience in planning and delivering schemes, supervising on-site activities, and ensuring health and safety compliance, all while working in a dynamic, outdoor environment.
What you'll be doing:
- Supervise on-site work including surfacing, planning, and traffic management.
- Plan and deliver individual schemes, ensuring financial and operational performance.
- Manage labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors for efficient site operations.
- Ensure health and safety compliance through risk assessments and delivery plans.
- Take accurate site measurements and place material orders.
- Maintain site records and support invoicing with Quantity Surveyors.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external clients to meet project goals.
- Work outdoors year-round in varied weather conditions.

Qualification: Mineral Products Technician Higher Apprenticeship (Level 5) University of Derby. Your learning will be delivered through dedicated block release sessions, with all accommodation and travel expenses covered. You’ll be required to travel to both the site and the college as part of your training.
What we're looking for:
We welcome people from all backgrounds - no prior experience is required.
- Essential: England: 5 GCSEs (AC / 94), including Maths and English, plus qualifications worth 64 UCAS points (e.g. A Levels, BTEC, Level 3 Apprenticeship). Scotland: Higher qualification (Grade C or above) with National 5 Maths (Grade C), or suitable construction-related qualifications/experience.
- Desirable: Motivation to work hands-on in outdoor environments. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Willingness to learn, grow, and take on new challenges. Ability to travel and work across various sites.
