We are looking for a Maintenance Electrician to help keep our quarry operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably. About the Role
As a Maintenance Electrician, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical systems across the quarry. You'll carry out planned and reactive maintenance, diagnose faults, inspect and test equipment, and support the wider engineering and production teams to keep our plant running at its best. You will also support future site development, automation, and reliability improvement projects - bringing your technical expertise into a fast-paced operational environment.
Shift Pattern
- 1 x week day shift (5.30am - 2.30pm)
- 1 x week night / back shift (4pm - 1am) alternating
- 1 x weekend in 4 (5.30am - 11.30am)
On Call rota: 1 x weekend in 4
This role is easily accessible from Porthcawl, Bridgend, Pencoed, Llantrisant, Cardiff, Port Talbot, Cowbridge, Barry, Pontyclun or Pontypridd and surrounding areas.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on fixed and mobile electrical plant, including conveyors, crushers, screens, motors, control panels, and lighting.
- Perform inspections, testing, and fault diagnostics to meet BS 7671, PUWER, and quarry regulations.
- Respond to breakdowns quickly and safely to minimise downtime.
- Install, modify, and commission electrical equipment, following safe isolation and lock out/tag out procedures.
- Keep accurate records of all electrical inspections and maintenance.
- Work closely with mechanical fitters, production teams, and supervisors to coordinate work.
- Support energy efficiency, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with contractor supervision and ensure work complies with CRH safety and quality standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture through risk assessments, toolbox talks, and hazard reporting.
What We're Looking For
You'll be a skilled industrial or heavy-plant Electrician who is confident working in challenging environments and wants to take ownership of keeping high-value equipment running safely. Suitable candidates will have:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or Maintenance.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
- Experience with heavy industry, quarrying, aggregates, mining, cement or similar.
- Strong understanding of three-phase systems, motors, and fixed-plant machinery.
- Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, EAWR.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documents.
- Confident with safe isolations, live testing (where authorised), and digital maintenance systems.
