We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our team in Doncaster on a fixed-term maternity leave cover contract. This role plays a key part in ensuring the efficient planning and coordination of transport operations, helping to optimise fleet utilisation, maintain exceptional customer service levels, and support the successful delivery of products to customers across the region.

Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Distribution Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating transport activities, communicating effectively with key stakeholders, and supporting the delivery of daily and longer-term transport plans. Key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and coordinating the effective distribution of products to internal and external customers.
- Supporting transport operations to maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise haulage queries.
- Providing timely and accurate communication to customers, drivers, hauliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Monitoring and managing daily and weekly transport schedules to ensure service levels are achieved.
- Responding proactively to operational changes and unforeseen events, implementing effective solutions to minimise disruption.
- Working closely with strategic customers to understand upcoming requirements and ensure delivery plans are aligned with demand.
- Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and fleet utilisation.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with customers and colleagues across the business.
- Ensuring capacity plans and forward programmes are communicated clearly and effectively to all relevant stakeholders.
- Supporting the team in delivering a safe, efficient, and customer-focused transport service.
This is a Monday to Friday position with a rota-based Saturday morning shift worked from home. While the role operates around core business hours, some flexibility with start and finish times may be required to support operational demands and team coverage.
The Ideal CandidateWe're looking for a motivated and organised individual with previous transport planning experience who can confidently manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Transport Planner or similar logistics/planning role.
- A good understanding of health and safety procedures and compliance requirements.
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience planning and coordinating programmes of work or transport schedules.
- Strong IT skills, including experience using planning and scheduling systems.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise changing workloads effectively.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while managing your own responsibilities.
