We're looking for an Assistant Manager (Asphalt) to join our friendly team at our Halecombe Asphalt Plant in Frome. In this role, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the plant, ensuring everything operates safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards. You'll lead a team, manage budgets, and make sure our customers receive the high-quality products and service they expect.

What you'll be doing:

  • Overseeing safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment
  • Driving a strong safety culture through toolbox talks and risk assessments, implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Systems of Work
  • Managing stock control, operational reporting, and budget performance
  • Coaching and developing a high-performing team
  • Supporting commercial teams to deliver excellent customer service
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives and change projects

What we're looking for:

  • Proven experience in asphalt operations and plant management
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and environmental compliance
  • SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6 and IOSH/NEBOSH qualifications desirable
  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office
  • A proactive approach to leadership, with the ability to manage change and drive performance and continuous improvement
