We are currently looking for an Environmental Permitting Manager to join our friendly team based in the East Midlands. The successful candidate will be based in Quorn, Leicestershire, however, you will have the opportunity to work remotely. Please note this position is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

What you'll be doing

As the successful Environmental Permitting Manager you will work in a small friendly team within the Land and Natural Resources (L&NR) function supporting the business on a diverse range of projects to obtain permits and licences for land, air and water for our quarries, concrete, asphalt and block plants. On a day to day basis the Environmental Permitting Manager responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical advice on the permits and licences required for new and existing operations in collaboration with the Operational, Strategic Planning and Circularity teams.
  • Management and delivery of a wide variety of permits and licences applications.
  • Identifying changes to regulations and guidance that require new permits, or impact on our existing permits and advise the business on actions required to become compliant.
  • Providing expert advice to the business relating to technical issues relating to permit conditions, or associated environmental legislation.
  • Build and manage relationships with the regulators.

What we are looking for

Ideally the successful candidate for Environmental Permitting Manager will have:

  • Be a self-starter.
  • A relevant degree in an environmental or science related field.
  • Practical experience in:
    • Managing permit applications and liaising with the Environment Agency and other regulators.
    • Knowledge of environmental legislation including the Environmental Permitting Regulations, guidance, practices and procedures.
    • Minerals, waste or water sector.
