Are you a Site / Quarry Manager looking for your next role? We are currently recruiting for an experienced Section (Quarry) Manager to join and lead our friendly operations team at our Tarmac Eaton Hall Sand and Gravel Quarry near Congleton. This role is accessible from Eaton, Congleton, Manchester, Biddulph, Stoke-on-Trent, Buxton, Leek, Northwich, Winsford, Sandbach, Crewe, Stockport and the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, manage and be accountable for all quarrying operations on the site.
  • Manage plant compliance with business policies and procedures and ensure legislative compliance.
  • Manage, coach and develop a highly skilled, fit for purpose and motivated team.
  • Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining disciplined stock management processes.
  • Understand different methods of winning and extracting raw material.
  • Knowledge of techniques employed to load extracted minerals and viable options to transport them.
  • Understand Quarry Regulations 1999 enabling a Reg 8 appointment (either C or D).
  • All aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations.
  • Maintain and implement existing and new Standard Operating Procedures, risk assessments and training staff.
  • Manage and oversee the safe operation of the plant and planned preventative maintenance of all equipment.
  • Report and investigate any unsafe or hazardous working practices.
  • Issue safety briefings and toolbox talks to the operational team.
  • Manage mandatory and developmental training of staff and maintain an up-to-date training matrix.
  • Collate and report on monthly performance KPIs for the business unit.
  • Drive operational performance through KPIs.

The role of Section (Quarry) Manager is a daily role Monday to Friday, but flexibility is key with the expectation to be available to meet with our plant's operational needs. A van is provided with the role.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology.
  • Highly experienced in Quarrying Operations.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageous.
  • Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems.
  • Working knowledge of production processes, H&S and Environmental policies.
  • Strong IT skills including a high level of competence with SAP and Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to multitask and manage change.
