My Client are a P. E Backed Fintech organisation.
They are in the middle of a fundamental transformation - not just of its technology platform... but of how the business thinks about technology / operational delivery.
Five primary value streams have been defined - Deal Onboarding & Activation, Facility Lifecycle Administration, Covenant & Compliance Management, Amendment & Consent Management, and Client Service & Relationship Management.
Every piece of work is now anchored to one of these streams.
The business needs to develop the capability to lead this model - and that is the purpose of this role.
This Management Consultant (Product) will arrive as the capability builder - the person who ensures that the business side of this new model is as strong as the engineering side.
Without this role, the delivery model risks being an engineering-led reset with business teams as passive recipients rather than active owners.
The role requires someone who has done this before in a high-pressure (ideally P.
E-backed) environment and who can move quickly without being destabilising.
Key Deliverables
- Define and Populate the Value Stream Work Packages
- Embed Agile and Outcome-Focused Ways of Working
- Assess and Close the BA / PO Capability Gap
- Support the Architecture and Capability Review
- Educate and Coach the Business on Product Ownership
- Establish the Product Operating Model
- Design the AI and Digital Readiness Backlog
Essential (Non-Negotiable)
- Management Consulting and Financial services experience - Understands the regulatory and operational context of a financial services environment - data governance, audit trail requirements, multi-regulator obligations
- Demonstrable experience as a senior Product Consultant / Manager or Head of Product in a technology-led organisation.
- Value stream and capability thinking - Has operated in a business architecture or value stream mapping context.
Understands capability decomposition and how to connect a technology delivery to a business outcome through a traceable chain.
- Must have personally led value stream or capability-based delivery, not just managed a feature backlog.
- Coaching and capability building
- Track record of building product management capability in organisations that did not previously have it.
- Can evidence the uplift they delivered - not just the artefacts, but the capability of the people left behind.
- Agile delivery leadership - Has led agile delivery in a complex, partner-heavy engineering environment.
- Understands the difference between Scrum theory and how Scrum actually needs to work when a third party delivery partner is executing the work.
- Stakeholder authority Can operate confidently alongside C-suite stakeholders — COO, CTO, CEO - and shape decisions, not just support them.
This role requires genuine authority in the room, not facilitation skills.
Desirable (Significant Advantage)
- Loan / lending knowledge
- Platform or Fintech product experience - Has worked on a platform business moving from operational software to a commercially extensible, API-first product — ideally in a PE-backed environment with an aggressive growth agenda.
- AI product experience - Has defined and owned AI product increments — not AI strategy documents, but actual product features involving LLMs, ML models, or agentic workflows embedded in operational processes.
- Private equity environment - Comfortable with the pace, accountability, and commercial alignment requirements of a PE-backed business.
Understands that the value creation agenda is real and the timeline is not flexible.
