- Main purpose of job
The Chef de Partie plays a crucial role in the kitchen team.
Responsible for running a section of the kitchen and ensuring the consistent preparation and presentation of the dishes on that section from start to finish.
- Main Accountabilities
- Food Preparation and cooking
- Prepare and cook menu items according to Tarka recipes and standards.
- Ensure that all dishes are plated and presented in a manner as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion control to minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
- Section Management
- Oversee assigned section with a sense of independence, communicating openly with the Head Chef about stock, timing and any issues that may inhibit work flow.
- Coordinate with other members of the kitchen team to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of orders.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the assigned section, including proper storage.
- Health and Safety Compliance
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the Head Chef for prompt resolution.
- Assist in conducting regular inspections and audits to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and follow defined safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a professional kitchen environment.
- Level 2 food safety and hygiene certificate.
- Culinary qualifications and certifications preferred.
- Strong culinary skills with a focus on quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
