The Chef de Partie plays a crucial role in the kitchen team.

Responsible for running a section of the kitchen and ensuring the consistent preparation and presentation of the dishes on that section from start to finish.

  • Main Accountabilities
  • Food Preparation and cooking
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to Tarka recipes and standards.
  • Ensure that all dishes are plated and presented in a manner as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion control to minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
  • Section Management
  • Oversee assigned section with a sense of independence, communicating openly with the Head Chef about stock, timing and any issues that may inhibit work flow.
  • Coordinate with other members of the kitchen team to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of orders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the assigned section, including proper storage.
  • Health and Safety Compliance
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
  • Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the Head Chef for prompt resolution.
  • Assist in conducting regular inspections and audits to maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and follow defined safety protocols at all times.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Level 2 food safety and hygiene certificate.
  • Culinary qualifications and certifications preferred.
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
