This role is for a Fixed Term Contract for 6 - 9 months.

Job Purpose: The Logistics Planner is responsible for the co-ordination and execution of inbound & outbound freight & logistics services for the EMEA region as well as tracking and administrative control of Logistics & Operations costs.

Position Context: Reporting to Logistics & Planning Manager the Logistics Planner serves internal customers such as the Supply Team, Customer Service, Availability to Promise (ATP), Sales and Finance to ensure effective coordination and execution of inbound and outbound shipments by working effectively with Product Suppliers, Freight Forwarders and 3PL partners. The Logistics Planner must be highly focused and service orientated delivering results through development and adherence to robust processes and cost control.

Responsibilities and Accountability:

Inbound Logistics Activities:

  • Organisation and coordination of the weekly inbound freight with Freight Forwarder & 3PL teams for Branded & OEM warehouses.
  • Align weekly with Planning & ATP on Inbound priorities for Branded stock and OEM stock.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders and suppliers to ensure accuracy & timeliness of shipping documents.
  • Maintain & develop existing reports to monitor and track all inbound shipments, intervening promptly and effectively to manage any delays that impact stock availability.
  • Update and maintain shipment data in Targus’ systems for all inbound shipments.
  • Ensure accurate receipt of stock into the Targus system.
  • Manage ad-hoc freight quotations & approval process.
  • Support the Supply Team to resolve bookings/shipment issues with the Freight Forwarder when necessary.
  • Find, present and coordinate alternative Inbound transport solutions when necessary.
  • Providing monthly container forecast per Port of Loading to Freight Forwarder (6 weeks in advance).

Outbound & Other Logistics Activities:

  • Manage the VMI outbound order invoicing for OEM customers and associated reporting.
  • Raise claims for all outbound carrier delivery discrepancies, escalating to insurance if necessary.
  • Management of day-to-day e-commerce activities.
  • Processing and coordinating invoicing of OEM Samples.
  • Coordination and execution of product customisation (logo) projects from initial quote to delivery to end user.
  • Prepare and present KPI performance reports for Logistics.
  • Cover for ATP.
  • Other ad-hoc logistics-related tasks as required.

Cost Control Activities:

  • Monitor and report sea freight rates for Inbound and Outbound.
  • Validate freight forwarder, 3PL and other service providers invoices.
  • Raise PO’s to ensure payment of Operational Suppliers to meet business timelines.
  • Monitor and track invoices against Logistics budget and ensure communication of forecasted costs to finance for relevant accruals.

Inventory Management Activities:

  • Facilitate stock transfers between warehouses as required.
  • Execute rework activities by agreeing on price and timelines with 3PL.
  • Arrange stock for rework and bundling.
  • Ensure all inbound stock has been booked onto the ERP system to ensure it is immediately available for order generation.

Person Specification:

Education, Experience & Skillsets:

  • Degree level or equivalent logistics qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant logistics/supply chain role.
  • Intermediate level Excel skills minimum, advanced preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Sea & Air Freight shipping processes & Freight Forward management.
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms, HS Codes and duty rates is desirable.
